The Six Affirmation of the Evangelical Covenant Church
1. The centrality of the Word Of God
We believe that the Holy Scriptures contain all we need to for what to believe and how to live.
2. The necessity of the new birth
We believe that all people are invited to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
3. A conscious dependence on the Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is God's presence with us, guiding us through and equipping us for the life of faith.
4. A commitment to the whole mission of the church
We believe that the church should be committed to helping people know and follow Jesus Christ and showing God's love through acts of compassion and mercy.
5. The Church as a fellowship of believers
We believe that Jesus didn't just save individuals, but created a community of faith in which all believers participate.
6. The reality of freedom in Christ
We focus on our unity in Christ and allow freedom to one another in the non-essentials of the Christian faith.
In addition to these affirmations, we affirm the historic creeds of the Christian faith, especially the Apostle's Creed and the Nicene Creed.
